Do you struggle flossing your teeth because your braces tend to get in the way? If so, our dentist, Dr. Maynard Davenport, is happy to teach you how to make flossing when you have braces easier. This is because flossing is very important for your smile, oral health and orthodontic journey, especially because it helps you prevent major dental issues. So, to make flossing easier when you have braces, it’s best to do the following things:

-Use waxed floss: Waxed floss is a strong, easy-to-use tool that is coated in wax. The wax makes it easier to place the floss in tightly knit places, which can help you properly and effectively clean the teeth and gums. The waxed floss also has the strength needed to avoid breaking easily.

-Use floss threaders: Floss threaders are loop-shaped tools that thread the floss easily under the braces wires. This can cut time off your flossing routine and it can help you avoid the frustration of threading the floss on your own, which we all know can be quite irritating.

-Use a water flosser: A water flosser can wash your teeth and gums without the use of floss. It’s a wand that sprays water from its tip. All you need to do is place the tip in the crevices between the teeth and spray. The water should remove the harmful substances gathered there.
